WELLINGTON A paid the penalty for a poor first-half display as they went down 4-1 against Staplegrove Reserves in the Premier Division of the CentregreatTaunton & District Saturday Football League on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School.

With only three more league matches to play, Wellington will finish in the bottom two - and will face almost certain relegation.

“We were not at our best in the first half when we leaked three goals,” said Wellington’s manager Warren Toth afterwards. “It was much better in the second half but by then it was too late.”

Wellington conceded a fourth goal in the second-half before top scorer Jordan Sellick pulled a goal back for the home side.

In a top of the table clash, Wembdon beat Galmington 5-3 at home to go three points clear of second-placed Dunwear United with Galmington a further point behind in third spot, but with a game in hand on United.
