WELLINGTON Wanderers U11 produced an excellent performance as they hosted Tone Youth, showing quality, teamwork and determination across the pitch.
From the opening whistle, Wellington demonstrated their intent by working hard to win the ball back, quickly and reacting sharply to second balls. Their pressing and organisation made it difficult for Tone to build any momentum, allowing Wellington to take control of the game. Once in possession, the team moved the ball confidently, linking passes together and showing great awareness to keep play flowing.
The performance was built on a strong foundation from the back. Tom K in goal set the tone with a composed display, displaying great positioning and dealing confidently with anything that came his way. In front of him, the defenders (Kohen W, Rowan G, Jack P and Oakley S) were solid and disciplined, reading the game well and making important interceptions.
In midfield (Jude N and Fraser M), Wellington were energetic and intelligent with their play. They battled hard to regain possession and then used the ball effectively, spreading play and supporting both defence and attack. Their ability to react quickly to loose balls helped maintain pressure on Tone throughout the match.
Further forward, the attackers (Rex B, Louis M and Riley L) worked tirelessly, pressing defenders, making clever runs and linking well with their teammates. Their movement and determination ensured Tone’s defence was constantly under pressure.
Importantly, every player played their part in what was a true team performance. Wellington dealt well with Tone’s strengths whenever they threatened and then imposed their own style of play to dominate proceedings.
It was a display full of effort, teamwork and quality from the entire squad, highlighting the progress the team continues to make.
Wanderers would like to say thank-you to Roadchef, the team’s kit sponsor, and R&M Motors, the match ball sponsor, for their continued support.
