OAKE Manor Golf Club men’s and ladies club championships were played on Saturday and Sunday, 18 holes each day, in blustery conditions, writes Peter Swann.

The course was in excellent condition and well prepared by Oake’s greenkeepers led by James Williams.

Oake greenkeeper Josh Martin won both the men’s gross and net championships with a gross score of 140 and a nett score of 136 over the two days. Runner-up in the gross competition was Kobe Adams with a score of 144. Mark Wooliscroft was runner-up in the nett competition with a score of 140.

Jane Clist is the ladies club champion for the eighth time with a gross score of 167, while Charlie Bolton was runner-up with 178.

Liz How won the ladies nett championship, scoring nett 144 and Sue Reed was the runner-up, scoring nett 152.

In other competitions - the Wednesday Midweek Stableford - Jack Malden won Division One, scoring 40 points. Second was Martin Rivers with 36 points and third Kevin Ward with 35.

Colin Shepherd won Division One of the Seniors’ Monday Stableford with 38 points. Second was Martin Rivers with 36 points and third Michael Bright on 33 points.

Howard Spear won Division Two with 38 points. Second was Ian Hockey on 33 point and third Trevor Cook on 32 points.
