THE layout of the course at Oake Manor Golf Club was changed for the Pro’s Day event last Saturday week.
For example, the sixth green was played from the 18th tee, the second hole was played from the eighth tee, and a new tee was created on the 16th hole and became a 95-yard par three all over water.
Unfortunately, play had to be suspended for about an hour on the day due to a thunderstorm. The competition was a four-ball Bowmaker with two scores to count on each hole.
The winners were Christopher Chedzoy, Ryan Marsh, Nathen Pepperell and J Price with a score of 109 points. In second place, also on 109 points but losing on countback, were Steven Clapp, Simon Molloy, Greg Scribbins and Kevin Ward. Third were Steve Barham, Colin Dyke, Darren Knowling and J Ward with 107 points.
Mike Amos was nearest the pin on the sixth hole, Chris Stokes was nearest the pin on the tenth hole and Rob Urmann had the longest drive on the 11th hole.
Helen White scored 41 points to win the Silver Street Motors Trophy in the Ladies Stableford Competition. Nadine Bidgway came second with 39 points, Jill Loader was third with 37 points and Suzanne Reed was fourth with 35 points.
Jamie Price had an excellent score of 44 points to win the Marie Curie Shield in the Men’s Sunday Stableford Competition. Jamie won Division Two, with the next three players all scoring 36 points. On countback Rupert Potter was second, Kirk Poulsom third and Mick Cawley fourth.
The first three players in Division One all scored 38 points and, on countback, John Ashton was first, Owen Irish second, Andrew Ford third and in fourth was Rob Larcombe with 37 points.
