WELLINGTON Town have enjoyed mixed fortunes in their last two fixtures in South Division of the Western Counties Floodlit Youth Football League.

They suffered a 1-0 away defeat against Axminster Town on Thursday of last week but were awarded the points after their opponents Wells City could not fulfil the fixture on Wednesday of this week.

Meanwhile Wellington, who are lying third in the table, were due to play three more games but one of their opponents Winscombe have pulled out of the league.

They play away to Cheddar next Thursday (May 2) and were due to play their last game of the season at home to Chard Town on Tuesday, May 14. They are now trying to rearrange this game.

Yeovil Town, who have lost only one match this season, are favourites to win the league but Chard, Wellington and Cheddar could all finish in second place.

Cheddar have only lost once and look most likely to be runners-up. Wellington, however, can look back on a season of progress under manager Joe Conway and his assistant Andy Govier following a win-less previous winter. The pair, however, are stepping down at the end of the season.
