WELLINGTON'S joint manager this season, Alex Pope, says he has been asked to stay on with the Toolstation League premier division club.
It follows the decision by the club's other boss Tim Legg to step down with 'a heavy heart.'
"I have already had discussions with the chairman Mike Hall," said Pope. "I'm ambitious and at the moment we are looking at what we can do to move the club forward. I don't want to just consolidate. The club also want Richard Cherry (coach) to continue."
Legg, who took over from Clive Jones in October, 2019, said: "I do not have the time needed to be a Western League premier manager as my work commitments and circumstances have changed.
“I have enjoyed the challenge and I’ve been honoured and privileged to be given the opportunity to manage my hometown and boyhood team.
“There have been many ups and downs during my tenure as a manager including good FA Vase runs, managing the seasons in the challenging Covid pandemic, and being a competitive outfit in the premier division.
