WELLINGTON end an enforced break of three weeks when they play away to Lydney in South West One (W) today (Saturday)

Having lost their last three games and not won a match since they beat Sidmouth early last month, Wellington face a tough game against a side fourth in the table. Last weekend Lydney won 13-11 at Keynsham who beat Wellington convincingly four weeks ago.

Wellington have been struggling with players injured or unavailable all season and they are likely to be in a similar situation when selecting for tomorrow’s match.

Last season’s vice-captain Jack Richards has been back in training and should be available and Wellington are hoping the Walker brothers Reagan and Martin will have recovered from injury.

“Obviously we look to field our strongest team possible - but selecting a settled side has proved a big problem,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland.

“You can only select from those who make themselves available. Sometimes we’ve had more than a dozen potential first team players unavailable. It makes it very difficult.”

Wellington have continued their twice-weekly training sessions during their spell without a game.

Wiveliscombe, who slumped 20-0 at home to second-placed Truro in Western Counties West last weekend, play away to Kingsbridge tomorrow.

Kingsbridge are not having the best of seasons and have won only three of their ten matches this season. They are 11th in the table while Wiveliscombe are seventh.

However, Kingsbridge are a difficult side to beat on their own ground and Wiveliscombe will have to be at their best to beat them.

Wellington 2nd XV, who lost 25-7 away to Keynsham 2nd XV in Somerset One last weekend, are home to fourth-placed Old Sulians tomorrow. Wellington have won only one of their seven fixtures so far this season and are ninth in the division.

Wiveliscombe’s young 2nd XV, fourth in Somerset Two with five wins from seven games, are away to Minehead tomorrow.
