WELLINGTON will be looking to avoid conceding the season’s double to Teignmouth when the sides play each other in Regional Two South West at the Athletic Ground on Saturday, February 28 (2.30p.m.).

Wellington lost 40-12 away to the Devon side in early November but since then it has been a tale of woe for Bradley Field’s outfit.

They have lost all 16 of their matches and are 18 points adrift at the bottom of the table - and facing almost certain relegation.

They cried off in their match away to Penzance & Newlyn last weekend, thereby forfeiting the points to the Cornish club.

They pulled out of the game because they could not field a front row due to ‘unavailabilities and injuries.’

Commenting on the poor playing record of the senior sides this season, the club’s director of rugby Allyn Chetland said: “We’re looking at the reasons for this - it’s a combination of things.”

Weston super Mare are proving to be the outstanding team in the division and go into their home game against North Petherton with a 100 per cent record after 17 games - and a 24-point lead at the top of the table. However, Petherton still have work to do to avoid relegation.

The Seconds are also bottom of their table, having won only one of their 14 matches - against local rivals Wiveliscome at home at the beginning of the year (49-13).
