JAKE Sharland is the new chairman of Wiveliscombe Rugby Club.

The 28-year-old winger, who was appointed at the annual meeting on Friday of last week, has taken over from Gary Sharland who stepped down. The new treasurer, also appointed at the meeting, is Liz Greenway.

Jake said this week: “I have always wanted to be in this role, although it has come earlier than expected. I cannot stress enough how much the committee have done.”

He also paid tribute to the work of former coach Peter Stone and Gary Sharland.

Jake’s appointment as chairman means he will now stand down as the club’s director of rugby.
