WELLINGTON rugby coach Laurence Ovens says he welcomes being without a match on Saturday following four successive defeats in Western Counties West.
“It will give some of the players a chance to get over one or two niggles,” he said yesterday.
“We also have plenty of things to work on. I thought we played well at Wadebridge (28-14 loss) but missed a couple of crucial tackles.
“We want to start winning rugby matches because it is annoying when everyone refers to us as plucky losers.
“We have plenty of competition for places, which is good.”
Wellington’s last victory was on Saturday, September 24, when they won 14-10 away to Burnham on Sea who are just above them in the table.
Their next match is not until Saturday, November 12, when they play at home to Torquay Athletic which is the only scheduled game to be played in the division.
Wiveliscombe, who have strung together four successive wins and moved up to third in Somerset Premier, are away to Hornets 2nd XV who are lying sixth in the table.
Wellington 2nd XV, who lost 22-15 at home to Keynsham’s second team, are away to Old Bristolians while Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are away to Tor in Somerset Two South.
