WELLINGTON are forced to make at least two changes for their tough away match against Wadebridge Camels in Western Counties West this coming Saturday.
Winger Nev Pitman and prop Martin Walker, who can also play centre, are both unavailable as Wellington go in search of their eighth win in nine matches, their only defeat being at Falmouth early in the season.
Wellington beat Tiverton 22-7 at home on Saturday and coach Allyn Chetland said: “We were happy with the victory but things did not go our way. We made a few mistakes but local derbies can be tricky.
“A Tiverton official told me afterwards they fielded their strongest side this season.
“We know it won’t be easy at Wadebridge - they are always difficult to beat at home. They also had a good win at Wiveliscombe even though they had a player sent off.”
Props Tom Crosby, who was on the bench against Tiverton, and Ryan Marke, who played for the 2nd XV against Old Sulians, will both be in contention to play at Wadebridge who have moved up to sixth in the table.
Wellington are now third and trail St Austell by four points but have a game in hand. St Austell scraped home 22-20 away to much-improved Chard while second-placed Kingsbridge won 68-10 at home to Honiton.
St Austell play at home to Cullompton on Saturday while Kingsbridge are away to Penryn.
Wellington 2nd XV, now up to third in Somerset One after their 23-13 home win over Old Sulians, have an away match against Chew Valley.
“One of the things we wanted this season was a good second team to add competition for places in the first team and we now have this,” added Chetland. “They did well to beat a useful Sulians’ side.”
