WELLINGTON, who lost their third game of the season against Devonport Services on Saturday, face another tough game this weekend away to Western Counties West leaders Truro.

The Cornish side hammered Burnham on Sea 58-15 at home over the weekend and have a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Despite losing 31-6 to the Services, Wellington coach Laurence Ovens felt they played “some good rugby.”

He said yesterday: “They are a very strong side and we’re very inexperienced.

“We missed a couple of scoring chances which might have made all the difference. But I could not fault the effort of the players – they worked really hard.

“It will get no easier at Truro but we’re under no pressure.”

Wellington’s latest defeat leaves them only seven points better off than bottom side Burnham.”

Wellington 2nd XV, whose only ‘win’ so far has been a walkover in Somerset One, are home to Taunton side Wyvern who have yet to win a match and are just below them in the corner.

Wiveliscombe, who produced the best display of the weekend by beating Bridgwater & Albion 2nd XV away in Somerset Premier, are home to Bristol Harlequins who are bottom with only one point from their opening five matches.

Wiveliscombe are now fifth in the table and need to win on Saturday to avoid losing touch with the leaders.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are away to bottom side Martock who are another side without a victory.
