WELLNGTON Rugby Club’s annual dinner and presentation night was held at the clubhouse, writes Michael Brewer.
One hundred members and guests enjoyed a four course dinner, followed by an overview of the season by coach Matt Parsons.
The first fifteen had a difficult start to the season, adapting to a different style of rugby played in Western Counties North. Towards the end of the season, however, as confidence grew so did their points tally, scoring 122 points in their last four matches and playing quality rugby.
The seconds did really well to finish sixth in Somerset One and particular praise was given to skipper Dave Turney for his work on and off the field. Awards presented during the event included: Club person of the year Dave Turney; 2xv Player of the year Marcus Westcott; Most Improved Player went to two youngsters Liam Pillips and Luke Brereton; Management Committee Player of the Year went to Jack Woodland while Joe Dyke won 1st xv Player of the Year.
