WESTON super Mare proved too strong for Wellington in Regional Two South West, after gaining a 69-5 victory at the Athletic Ground.
The seasiders went into the game with a 100 per cent record at the top of the table, and quickly established a 21-0 lead in the opening 14 minutes.
But Wellington saw plenty of the action during the remainder of the half and reduced the arrears with a try by Jason Rowland at the clubhouse end.
But the league leaders showed why they have made such a fine start to the season, piling on the agony with six more tries in the second half.
However, Wellington’s youngsters should not be too disappointed by the result. They could easily have wilted in the first half after Weston raced into a healthy lead. And with a little more luck they might have scored more than their one solitary try.
Wellington are away to Wadebridge Camels on Saturday, October 25.
