WELLINGTON will almost certainly be without two of their most influential players – skipper Micky Norman and player-coach Matt Parsons – for Saturday’s rugby match at home to Chew Valley in Western Counties North (2.30).

Both were hurt in the weekend’s 25-12 away defeat by Old Bristolians – Norman with a foot injury and Parsons with damaged shoulder ligaments, and spent the next day in A & E in Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

All five of Wellington’s victories so far this season have come at the Athletic Ground.

“It’s the same old story away from home,” said Parsons. “We’re getting ourselves into winning positions but we’re not killing off sides. We were winning in Bristol and should have scored a try when we got ourselves into a five-on-one situation near their line but dropped the ball. It’s silly mistakes which are costing us.”

Wellington’s new-look 2nd XV play away to Crewkerne in Somerset One on Saturday while the 3rds are away to Castle Cary.

Wiveliscombe will be looking to bounce back from their 48-10 mauling by Old Bristolians when they play away to St Bernadettes Old Boys while Wiveliscombe 2nds are home to Frome in Somerset Two South.

Wellington 3rds have no match.
