WELLINGTON Rugby Club are to hold a ‘get-together’ of players and coaches shortly.

Coach Allyn Chetland said: “We need to talk about all sorts of things, whether it be held on the field at the Athletic Ground or remotely.

“The situation over Covid-19 is changing all the time but it would be good to have a get-together.

“It is interesting that the Welsh RFC have said it will be at least October before rugby begins at grassroots level and whether the English RFU will follow the same route.

“We need to start by the end of October or the beginning of November if we are going to complete a league season, bearing in mind most clubs have two weeks off at Christmas. We are playing Wiveliscombe at home on Boxing Day and we would hope that spectators will be able to watch it.

“It’s our biggest earner of the season and it would be a great pity if it had to be played without a crowd. There is so much uncertainty at the moment.”

Players are set to report back for pre-season training early next month.
