DESPITE an encouraging first-half display, Wellington went down to a 38-7 loss away to North Petherton in Regional Two South West.

Wellington made a flying start with Louie Justice scoring a try after only nine minutes with Jonny Clist converting. Petherton hit back with a converted try after 20 minutes to level the scores.

With little to choose between the sides, there was no more scoring in the first half.

However, Petherton scored early on the resumpton, going 14-7 up with a converted try and doubled their lead seven minutes later with another seven points as Wellington began to wilt on a miserable and wet afternoon.

And Petherton stretched their lead with an unconverted try after 65 minutes, making it 26-7, and scored two more tries, one unconverted, to eventually finish comfortable winners.

It was Wellington’s tenth defeat in as many games and they remain bottom of the table still without a victory this season.
