DESPITE a promising start, Wellington lost their third successive rugby match when they went down 21-12 away to Crediton in Regional Two South West.

Wellington built up a 12-0 lead in the opening half an hour but could not push on and Crediton hit back to score a converted try just before the interval.

And the Devon side went on to win the game with two more converted tries in the second half to end a much more encouraging display by Wellington.

Jason Rowland was first on Wellington’s scoresheet, putting the visitors ahead with a try after 12 minutes. And Wellington added to their lead with a try by Arthur Burns Cox not long after, which was converted by Alex Davey.

But the home side, who were also looking for their first win of the season, closed the gap to five points with a converted try before half time before snapping up two more seven-pointers in the second half.
