WELLINGTON’S long-serving prop Lee Wadham and former skipper and No 8 Micky Norman are both hanging up their boots, writes Barry Knott.

Both are regular members of Wellington’s first team although Norman’s season has been marred by injury.

“We are losing two very good players but we’re hoping to attract new players now that we have been promoted,” said coach Allyn Chetland.

Wellington won the Cornwall and Devon League championship and the Somerset Vase during the past season and it has been confirmed they will be playing in Western Counties West next winter.

“It is a tough league as we found out two seasons ago when we were relegated,” added Chetland. “We understand that Winscombe will be playing in the same division.”

“A number of the lads were in the relegation side but they are a season wiser and operate much better as a unit. I expect us to more than hold our own.”

Pre-season training is likely to start at the end of June or early July.
