WELLINGTON suffered a crushing 91-7 defeat by leaders Dings Crusaders Seconds in Counties One Western North at the Athletic Ground.

After losing their opening two matches following relegation at the end of last season, Wellington had been hoping for a better result before their home supporters.

But Dings, on top of the table on points difference from three other sides, never looked back after snapping up a converted try early on.

They were 26-0 up half-way through the first half and led 52-0 at the break.

It was now a question of damage limitation after the interval for Wellington, but they continued to leak tries in the second half as Crusaders piled on the pressure - and the points.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Dings had stretched their lead to 69-0 and showed no mercy as they notched a 91-7 victory, with Wellington’s only points coming from a late try by Johnny Clist which was converted by Alex Davey.
