WELLINGTON Rugby Club’s players report back for pre-season training on Monday, June 25.

Wellington, who will be playing three pre-season warm-up games, will be training on Mondays and Wednesdays until the season starts.

Coach Allyn Chetland said: “We will look at training nights once the season gets underway.”

Wellington will be playing in Western Counties West this winter, having won the Cornwall and Devon League last season. They also won the Somerset Vase.

“We are obviously looking to strengthen the side, and perhaps persuade one or two older players to play again,” added Chetland.

Wellington begin the season with a home game against neighbours Chard on Saturday, September 1.

Fly-half and centre Alex Westcott has been chosen to skipper Wiveliscombe’s first team this coming season. He take over from Will Ellis who has been captain for more than three years. Jake Sharland and Ross Pearson will jointly carry out the vice-captain’s duties.
