WELLINGTON will be looking to avenge a narrow defeat at Tiverton early in the season when the sides play against each other again in Western Counties West at the Athletic Ground on Saturday (2.30).
Wellington were beaten 20-16 by Tiverton in September in a match they could easily have won.
Having won 22-18 at home to St Austell over the weekend Wellington will fancy their chances of back to back home wins, especially as Tiverton have not won away for nearly three months.
However, Wellington are still on the bottom of the table despite Saturday’s home victory.
Wiveliscombe, who bounced back to winning form with a 41-0 home win over St Bernadettes on Saturday, will have to be at their best when they travel to play Tor who are fifth in Somerset Premier.
Wivey will be chasing the season’s double over their opponents, having beaten Tor 39-26 at The Rec in September.
Wivey remain third in the table, having won eight of their last nine matches.
Wellington 2nd XV have no game until they play at home to their Wivey counterparts in a non-league game at the Athletic Ground on Boxing Day morning.
They will have to play better than they did on Saturday when they lost 15-10 in Somerset One at Yatton who had not won a game until then.
Wiveliscombe 2nd XV also have no match in Somerset Two South on Saturday.
Wellington’s chairman John Dunbar has ruled out the appointment of a new coach before the end of the year.
He said yesterday: “Allyn Chetland is in charge at the moment and we’re doing alright. We haven’t had much luck this season but we did have a bit of luck against St Austell and it’s about time too. The atmosphere in the club is good and players are enjoying training.”
Chetland, a former No 8, played senior rugby for Wellington for a number of years.
