WELLINGTON'S hopes of ending their dismal run in Regional Two South West were dashed when they lost 47-0 at home to Cullompton in their latest rugby match.
The pitch was playable, despite heavy rain which had fallen throughout the week which caused some matches to be called off.
Wellington went into the game having not won a game this season and looking to avenge a 43-22 away loss to the Devon side in early October.
But after a steady start they conceded a try after 12 minutes - and Cullompton never looked back, racing into a 40-0 lead at half time.Wellington, however, managed to contain their rivals in the second half, meaning Cullompton scored only seven more points.
Elsewhere, Weston super Mare maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of the table after they beat fifth-placed Wadebridge Camels 39-22 away.
It means they now have a 24 point lead over second-placed Tiverton who won 41-38 at Ivybridge.
