WELLINGTON moved up to second in the Cornwall and Devon League on Saturday - without handling a ball, writes Barry Knott.
They were awarded five points by the league after their scheduled home game against Hayle was cancelled because their opponents could not raise a side.
“It was very disappointing, particularly as we had 60 people sitting down for lunch expecting to see the first team in action,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland. Fortunately the Under 18s were playing and they moved onto the main pitch so it did give the lunchers a game to watch.”
