WELLINGTON and Wiveliscombe, who gained last-gasp victories over the weekend, are both expecting big crowds for home matches this Saturday.
Wellington scored a last-minute try and conversion to beat Winscombe 14-13 away in Western Counties West while Wivey kicked a late penalty to win 32-29 at Yatton to clinch the Somerset Premier title after staging an 18-point fightback.
It means Wivey will be playing Western Counties rugby next season and would like to be placed in West section.
Wellington are still in a good position to win their division. They are three points behind leaders Sidmouth and two behind second-placed Crediton.
Wellington play at home to Bideford, who are lying tenth, on Saturday (3.00). The sides drew 5-5 when they played each other earlier in the season.
“We have two matches left and all we can do is win both and hope the others slip up,” said Wellington coach Allen Chetland.
However Wellington will be without talented back row Danny Lee who is “rested” following his sending off for two yellows at Winscombe. “Both yellows were debatable,” added Chetland.
Wiveliscombe play third-placed Avon and will be looking for a stylish display after winning at Yatton with Jake Sharland snapping up three classy tries.
There will be a hog roast for club volunteers after the game which kicks off at 3.00.
Wellington 2nd XV are away to Crewkerne in Somerset One while Wiveliscombe are home to new Somerset Two South champions Taunton Wanderers who have lost only one match this season.
