WELLINGTON, chasing a league and cup double, face two crucial rugby matches in the next three days.
They play Somerset Premier leaders Gordano in the semi-finals of the Somerset Vase at North Petherton tomorrow (April 12, 7.30) and are home to lowly Hayle in the Cornwall and Devon League on Saturday (3.00).
Wellington coach Allyn Chetland stressed yesterday: “Our focus is very much on winning the league. It takes priority over anything else.
“Of course it would be nice to win the Vase and we’re quite capable of doing this. We will fielding as strong a side as we can against Gordano.
“But there will be players unavailable for one reason or another. We will just have to see what happens.”
Wellington go into tomorrow’s game having won their last 19 matches, 18 of them in the league.
Gordano are favourites to win Somerset Premier but they have lost twice to Wiveliscombe this season - two of only three losses in the league so far.
Wellington should beat Hayle but the following Saturday they play at home to Honiton who are one of only two sides to have beaten them this season.
They went down 16-15 in controversial circumstances at Honiton on the opening day of the season.
