WIVELISCOMBE Rugby Club have stepped up their search for a new head coach – and a chairman.

The West Somerset club need to replace joint coaches Peter and Brian Stone, and they also need to find someone to take over from retiring chairman Gary Sharland.

Wiveliscombe’s director of rugby Jake Sharland said: “We need to get these posts filled fairly quickly. They’re important roles within the club.

“It is an exciting time to take over as coach because we have a young side. The new coach will be working with a promising set of lads.

“Of course it is difficult at this present time. We have to assume the season will not start in

September.

“However, we still need to fill these roles – and anyone interested can get in touch with me (017889 206694).”

Wiveliscombe’s first team will again be playing in Western Counties West after just managing to avoid relegation, finishing third from bottom last season following promotion.

Wivey’s inability to field a settled side – for one reason or another – was their main problem. They showed when they were able to field their strongest team they were a match for most teams in the division.
