WELLINGTON Darts League pro Ryan Searle reached the fourth round of the UK Open at Butlin’s, Minehead, before losing to World No 19  Steve West 10-4 on Friday.

Last year West beat World No 1 Michael van Gerwin to reach the quarter-finals of the European Championship.

Earlier in the day Searle, who plays for local side and champions HTA, beat Matthew Edgar 6-3 in the third round.

Searle is now a full-time darts player, having given up his job as a window cleaner. 

Despite turning pro, he turns out regularly for HTA who are almost unbeatable in the local league.
