SOME of the biggest names from the world of cricket and rugby came together at the Cooper Associates County Ground for the Captains Clash T20 for MND.

The star-studded charity fixture saw Somerset captain Lewis Gregory skipper a side to take on England rugby captain Jamie George’s XI in a unique T20 contest, in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

More than 2500 people enjoyed a match which saw the likes of Lewis Gregory, Jack Leach, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, James Rew, Jake Ball, Migael Pretorius, Jamie Overton and Peter Trego take to the field alongside Jamie George, Ben Earl, Elliot Daly, Max Malins and Owen Farrell.

Rugby World Cup winner, Lewis Moody, who was recently diagnosed, was also present to help raise awareness of the MND Association.

Following an entertaining match, the Jamie George XI came out on top in the final over of the match.

After the game, Lewis Gregory said: “It’s been a bit of fun and it’s really nice that there were over 2500 people here but obviously we’re here to try and raise some money for what’s a pretty serious cause and a pretty devastating disease.

“Hopefully, the funds raised will help towards the charity and I hope that people have had a good day.

“I think the rugby boys were a little bit nervous when they first rocked up, but I think they got into it and Max Malins played brilliantly! He got 80-odd and showed that he’s a little bit of a talent

“TKC and Jamie spoke at one of the T20s because Jamie was down watching and the idea just came about. Those two were having a chat about trying to sort out a game and Jamie messaged the Saracens lads and pretty much instantly they had their batting eleven sorted out!
