TOMORROW (Sat) morning there will be a mass migration of Somerset fans making their way to Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham to watch the Cidermen taking part in the Vitality T20 Blast Finals Day.
Somerset booked their place by beating Nottinghamshire in quarter finals in front a huge home crowd in a tense match last Friday evening which they looked to have lost before skipper Lewis Gregory and Ben Green saw them home.
Somerset have only won the T20 Cup once and that was back in 2005 when they beat a star studded Lancashire side at the Oval.
This will be the third time in as many years that Somerset have been to finals day, so will this be the year that they finally enjoy the sweet taste of success, rather than subjecting their fans to another long late night journey empty handed?
In their 2023 T20 campaign Somerset have won 12 out of their 14 group matches, a new record since when they have beaten Notts in the first game of the knock out stages.
Before they can lift the T20 trophy Somerset face Surrey in the second semi final of the day which starts at 2.30pm, after which if they are successful they face the winners of the other match between Hampshire and Essex.
Let's all hope upon hope that Somerset’s successful run in the T20 continues for two more matches and we all have something to celebrate at the end of Saturday evening.
