YOUNG all-round athlete and Wellington School sixth-former Jack Turner is going to represent England in a variety of athletics disciplines.

The Year 12 student won the English Schools Combined Events Championships in Boston, Lincolnshire.

He is now U17 2017 Combined Events Champion and ranked 2nd in the UK for U17 Octathlon, with an overall points score of 5207.

Jack is now on the England team and will take part in his first international competition at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on November 19.

Jack competed in eight events over two days in harsh, cold conditions with rain and fog to contend with. The standard was very high with a Commonwealth Youth Champion and a World Youth Champion to compete against.

Jack pulled out all the stops and despite still carrying a fractured bone from a knee injury back in April, managed to complete all his events to a high standard.
