TAUNTON Racecourse will be hosting the Bathwick Tyres Sunday Meeting on Sunday, February 5 when the first of the six races on the card which carries a very generous £53,000 in prize money goes to post at 1.50pm, writes Richard Walsh.
This is the first Sunday Meeting that Taunton Racecourse has hosted for many years and the management are once again grateful to Bathwick Tyres for their sponsorship.
First to post is the Bathwick Tyres Bath Novices’ Hurdle Race over two miles and about half a furlong which is followed half an hour later by the longest race of the day, the Bathwick Tyres Yeovil Handicap Hurdle over three miles.
Next up is the Bathwick Tyres Midsomer Norton Steeple Chase - a Novices’ Limited Handicap over two miles two furlongs which is due off at 2.20pm.
The first of the Class Three events on the card follows when the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong starts 30 minutes later.
The most valuable race of the day, the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Steeple Chase (Class Three) over two miles and about seven furlongs with a whopping £13.000 in prize money is due off at 3.20pm.
The afternoon’s action rounds off with the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Conditional Jockey’s Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and three furlongs.

To mark the return of Sunday Racing, the Orchard Portman course will be offering a three course a la carte lunch with a reserved table in the newly refurbished Orchard Restaurant, (which includes afternoon tea as well) for £65 or a Special Raceday Package for racegoers on the move that includes admission, a Tote betting voucher, a racecard, and a food and drink voucher.
