DEFENDING champion Jon Hughes, of Wellington, lost his open singles crown at the annual Ark Removals Taunton and District Table Tennis League's annual championships on Sunday (March 25).

He reached the final but lost 3-2 to the hard-hitting Paddy Sheppard.
