THERE will be a three-day celebration of the life of Dave Perry, who died suddenly in May, later this month.

THE celebration will be held at the Rockwell Green Institute on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - the 17th,18th and 19th July (opening times are 4-30 till 12 on the Friday, 7 till 12 on the Saturday and 12 till 8 on Sunday when there will be a BBQ).

The proceeds will be going to David's favourite charities. There will be collection boxes around the club for donations. The charities are Epilepsy UK, British Heart Foundation, and the Cat Protection League (Wellington and Taunton branch),

The Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League paid tribute on his death with the following statement.

“Dave was a well-known and much-respected figure within both our league and the wider community.”

“He was renowned as one of the league’s great stickers-up and, fittingly, had been sticking up at the Harry Dowson Pairs Cup quarter-finals shortly before he died.

“He was also a player for Club Rockers at the Institute and had helped out numerous teams over the years whenever a sticker up was required.

“To many of us, Dave was simply ‘Mr Reliable’ – whether it was a cup game, a final, or a busy league night, you could always count on him to be there.

“He was one of the last of the old-school stickers-up - quick, consistent, dependable, and always certain of what had been knocked down whenever there was any doubt.

“His presence around the alleys was something we all appreciated greatly.”

“To mark his memory, the league will be creating the Dave Perry Trophy to be presented each season to the best sticker-up, voted for by the teams.

“It is our intention that Dave’s name and memory will live on within the league to which he gave so much over so many years.”
