WELLINGTON Amateur Boxing Club faces a knock-out blow if it does not find new premises, writes Barry Knott.
The club, which was formed just under a year ago, is based at the local youth centre but has been told it must leave at the end of the month.
The club is run by Gavin White and Russell Baker, who helped the club financially when it started, and has 18 juniors training every Monday and Tuesday and 12 seniors, some of whom are ready to box competitively.
“We always knew that using the centre would be short term but we simply cannot find alternate premises,” said Gavin who has boxed for 20 years. “We’ve tried everywhere."
