WELLINGTON play away to bottom side Millbrook in a crucial game in the Premier Division of the Toolstation Football League this afternoon (Sat).

And for the first time in any game this season, Wellington are favourites to win - for only the third time in the league this season.

Millbrook have as bad a record as any team in the country - played 13, lost 13, goal difference -82.

Although they lost 3-2 at home against Barnstaple last time out, second-from-bottom Wellington have been playing well enough to be confident of the three points. They could also move above fellow strugglers Oldland Abbotonians and Saltash who have difficult away games - against Buckland Athletic and Falmouth respectively.

Tomorrow’s game will also be Wellington’s last before they play Bridgwater United at home in a Boxing Day derby which has a 1p.m. kick-off. Bridgwater have set their sights on a return to the Southern League next season.

Wellington Reserves will be back in action tomorrow when they play at home to Hatherleigh Town who they beat 4-2 away in the first division of the Devon & Devon League at the end of October. Wellington are third but have played more games than teams around them.

Hemyock, who have not had a good season in Division Three, are away to Sidmouth Town 3rds who are second from bottom.

Wellington A, beaten only once this season in Division One of the Taunton Saturday League, are away to former champions Bridgwater Sports. Although Sports are lying eighth, they have games in hand on all teams above them.

On Sunday, Wellington side Moortown play Panthers in Division One of the Somerset Sunday League at the Playing Field (10.30) looking for only their third victory in the division this season. Moortown beat Taunton North Robbins 2-1 away last weekend.

Wellington Wildcats and Wellington Ladies are without games in the Somerset Women’s League this weekend.
