WELLINGTON gained their 12th successive victory in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League when they beat Taunton St Andrews 2nd XI by six wickets at the Playing Field yesterday (Sat).
It means that although title rivals Chard also won by the same margin, Wellington were able to extend their lead at the top to 26 points.
The Saints, put into bat, were bowled out for 179 in 38 overs with Ben Mason (58) and Daniel Godfrey (61) being their star batters, sharing a 5th wicket stand of 91.
Toby Stirzaker took 3-23 in his eight overs and Sandaken Pathirana 4-45.
When Wellington batted, opener Jacob Hurry made 48 and Sandaken Pathirana 68 as Wellington reached their target on a wind-swept and damp day in 35.4 overs.
Akshay Bharadwaj took 3-47 for the Saints who remain second from bottom.
