DESPITE losing 44-10 at Cullompton in Regional Two South West over the weekend, Wellington's head coach Graham Dawe says they are not a 'million miles away' from being more competitive.

"We played very well at Cullompton for the first 30 minutes, but had a bad second half," said Dawe today. "It is a very competitive division and there are some decent teams in it. We have a lot of ability in the team. They scored right on the stroke of half time which was a blow."

The former Bath player added: "We're not staying in the fight especially in away games. It is not easy."

After a bright start to the season, Wellington have lost their last three matches and have slipped to seventh in the table. There is also a gap opening up between the top six teams and bottom six."

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe are still without a victory in Counties One Western West and are seven points adrift at the bottom of the table. There have been games, however, which they could have won.

It is a blank weekend for Wellington and Wiveliscombe's senior teams. They play again on Saturday, November 4.
