HAVING battled through previous qualifiers and finals seven Whirlwinds gymnasts made their way to Nottingham to compete at the Motorpoint Arena in the NDP Trampoline and Tumbling Finals over the weekend.
A tough two days of competition saw Carys Griffiths-Jones pick up third place on DMT Level 2 in the 9-10 age group and Lilly Lucking winning the DMT Level 3 Age 9-10 competition.
There were some near misses on a podium finish with Erin Boon, Jas Uminski and Liam Isaac getting close. For Hannah Semple and Jessica Vickery both saw solid performances for two girls competing as younger gymnasts in their respective age groups.
To put this competition into perspective the finals represented the top eight gymnasts in the UK at their Age and level so it was a huge achievement by all of the Whirlwinds team.
Parents and gymnasts want to thank all of the coaches at the club who have helped them with training throughout the lyear in making the finals.
A special thanks go to head coach Jason Richardson, Becky Jarrett and Sam Podilchuk who coached them at the finals.
Everyone will head back into training this week and set their individual goals for the future. For Jessica Vickery, Liam Isaac and Becky Jarrett their training will take them to the British Championships in September.
