CUSTOMER adviser Gloria Parkinson has completed 50 years at the Wellington branch of Boots – and she has no thoughts of retirement.
“I love working here and I love my customers – it makes me get up in the morning,” said Gloria after being presented with a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion on Monday by store manager Louise Monk.
Widower Gloria, who has two grown up children and two grandchildren, added: “I will keep on working while I can, and I enjoy it.”
She lives in Cedar Court, having previously lived for a long time in Gay Street.
She is a member of two organisations – the Pensioners’ Club in White Hart Lane and the Friendship Club at West Buckland.
Gloria, who has always been part-time, first worked at Boots as a 31-year-old when it was based in what is now Shauls Bakery.
It moved to its present address in High Street, beside the former King’s Arms, just over 40 years ago. It was previously International Stores.
