POLICE are urging parents to make sure they know where their children are after dark following a number of anti-social behaviour incidents in the town.

PCSO Simon Bramley told the WWN unsavoury incidents had taken place at several locations in the town including Wellington Park and at the pavilion at Wellington School.

He said groups of teenage youths had been causing problems in these areas – smoking and drinking – and leaving a trail of rubbish and damage.

PCSO Bramley said that patrols would be stepped up to try and deter the problems, while he also asked parents to try and make sure their children are not left roaming the streets at night.

The police told members of Wellington Town Council earlier this month that officers had received 17 calls in total about anti-social behaviour throughout November – down three calls on October.
