A casualty had to be cut free from their vehucle after a crash.

The collision happened on the A38 by the Beambridge Inn at lunchtime today and involved a lorry and a pick-up truck.

Two fire engines and a heavy rescue vehicle went to the scene to find one person physically trapped and two walking wounded.

Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty and they were handed over to the ambulance paramedics.

It is not known how seriously injured the casualties were.
