Longstanding town centre eyesore, the former E J Teare newsagents, has deteriorated further.

The vacant shop was seen on Tuesday morning with a ground floor window smashed through.

E J Teare has been in a steadily declining state of disrepair since the South Street premises was vacated by the business owners 2017.

It has since faced repeated demands by Somerset Council to carry out remedial works - demands which have so far gone unheeded.

The state of the storefront, which falls within the town's conservation zone, has come under repeated fire from residents and local councillors.

Wellington town Cllr Zoe Barr previously described the empty shop as "a horrible blot on the town centre."

Wellington Town Council have been alerted to the smashed window, and have contacted Somerset Council's building control, who are expected to take 'imminent action.'
