Wellington Operatic Society is already into a new rehearsal schedule for its forthcoming production of Annie – following on from the huge success of the Cinderella pantomime in January.

Nancy Powell-Brace is directing the show with a professional

supporting team. Alice Luke is

choreographing the many dance sequences including the 22 orphans, along with Natalie Clayton teaching the songs and Andrew Curtis as musical director with members of the operatic society.

Three children have been cast for the part of Annie – Emily Sellick and Daisy Holloway will alternate performances with understudy Evie

Warwick.

The story of ‘Annie’ is set in the 1930s in New York where Annie lives unhappily in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. She tries to escape and befriends a stray dog who she calls Sandy – real name Sid, owned by stage manager Claire Knighton.

This promises to be another excellent production and performances run from May 7-11.

Help is still needed with set building and obtaining advertising for the programme. Anyone interested in helping in any way should contact Nancy Powell-Brace at Odette’s tearoom, High Street Wellington.
