A TEENAGE motorist from Hemyock has been banned from driving for 12 months after being caught behind the wheel while high on cannabis.

The 17-year-old woman, who pleaded guilty in Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on Thursday (May 7), was stopped by police in Popes Lane, Wellington, on December 17 last year.

Prosecuting solicitor Henry Mainstone told the magistrates a blood sample showed the woman had 8.7 micrograms of the drug THC per litre, when the legal limit was two micrograms.

District judge Angela Brereton said the woman’s guilty plea was taken into account and she made a conditional discharge order for 12 months and also ordered her to pay £50 Crown Prosecution Service costs and a £26 victim fund surcharge.
