THE housing market is booming in Wellington with no sign of the boom coming to an end.

Estate agents report a high volume of sales, both of new, nearly new and old houses, with buyers not letting the General Election or the uncertainty of Brexit put them off. Clients are buying for all sorts of reasons with some looking for investments for the long-term.

Wellington has not seen house-building on such a scale as now but this has not affected sales of older properties. In fact, the demand for all types of housing is growing, fuelled by many new jobs at Chelston and Westpark 26.

Roger Sattler, of Webbers in South Street, said: “Wellington is a very attractive place to live and buyers are coming from many different areas to be in a town that provides so much. The development of new homes in the area over the past decade has at times created strong competition for people selling their own home but in more recent times re-sale homes have performed very strongly alongside the newer options.

“I would normally expect a quieter time running up to a General Election and maybe for a while after. This year, however, there was only some six-seven weeks from the announcement and I didn’t see any disruption to our business at all. In fact, we have experienced some of the best sales since 2007 for the time of year."
