A GLORIOUS sunny day saw crowds arriving to enjoy the various entries at Bradford-on-Tone Flower Show on Saturday, July 4.

In spite of the high temperatures in the days prior to the show, entries were plentiful in sections ranging from fruit and vegetables, to cakes, art and handicraft.

Cups and prize vouchers were presented by Parish Council chair, Mrs Georgie Robarts, with all funds raised on the day to be divided between village charities.

The Martin Memorial Cup went to Mike Broom for best exhibit in section one, with the Garden Club Cup awarded to Gill Hatcher for the heaviest crop of potatoes.

Best exhibit in the fruit section was Mike Broom who also picked up best exhibit in the flower section. The Margaret Eccles Cup for the most points in Sections 1 to 3 again went to Mike Broom while the Davey Rose Trophy for best exhibit in the rose classes was awarded to Gillian McGoun.

Mike Broom picked up the Neil Palk Memorial Cup for sweet peas, while the Christine Trip Memorial Cup for best exhibit in floral art went to Di Moore. Graham Hatcher won best exhibit in cookery, with the Betty Elliot Cup for best Victoria Sandwich going to Peter Hardy.

Best exhibit in Handicraft was Pauline Meakin, with Una Lee awarded best exhibit in artwork and drawing. William Rees had the best exhibit in photography with the Timewells Cup for decorated hat awarded to Ali Smith.

The Blackmore Plate for the children’s section Under 7 went to Daisy Chmiewliski, with the Rose Bowl, Children’s 12 and under, going to Felix Gravelle.

The Hoare Cup for best exhibit in show was awarded to Georgina Robarts with Mike Broom winning the Open Challenge Cup for most points in show.

The Show Committee would like to thank all establishments who donated raffle prizes and prize vouchers.
