Wellington's greenery has been subjected to the judging eyes of inspectors from the Britain in Bloom competition.

The town was visited on Monday, July 17 by contest judges John Yeo and Ian Murphy.

The Basins Volunteers Group took part in this year's entry for the contest, and were joined by Town Cllr Janet Lloyd and members of the Taunton Parks Department on judging day.

The outcome of the visit has yet to be declared, but volunteers are optimistic of a good result.

The inspection came just a day after vandals uprooted dozens of plants in Wellington park and set fire inside its public toilets.

However many of the pants were quickly returned to the ground after green fingered residents stepped in to put right the damage.
