VISITORS to an open garden event near Wiveliscombe on Bank Holiday Monday included 101-year-old Wellington woman Grace Rasch.

The event at Pauline Homeshaw’s home at Burges Meadow at Maundown raised £1,220 for SSFA, the Armed forces charity.

More than 180 visitors enjoyed the two-acre hillside garden with 100-plus varieties of interesting and unusual trees, shrubs and borders. The gardens also include a stream, waterfalls and ponds, and a large glasshouse.

Cream teas and a plant stall were also on offer, and luckily the rain held off until the end of the event.
