WELLINGTON Theatre Company is inviting budding performers to indulge in an evening of class, wit and debauchery this weekend.
They will be running play readings at Wellington Arts Centre for two comedies – Private Lives by Noel Coward and The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, before auditions on Sunday, September 23. ?Private Lives details the humorous encounter between two ex-spouses who decide to run away together and give their relationship another shot, much to the shock of the newlyweds they leave behind.
It requires a cast, suitable for a range of ages, of two men and three women. Chemistry is what counts for the couples and a believable French accent for the maid.
The Importance of Being Earnest is a farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personæ to escape burdensome social obligations.
It requires a cast of five men and four women with a range of ages.
The play readings are on Friday (September 7) and Sunday (September 9) both at 7pm. The performance dates are April 10-13 2019.
